Just a few days remain to renew annual licensing through the NMLS. There are various informative publications that the NMLS has made available to assist licensees.

New NMLS Forms April 2012

NMLS will be issuing updated licensing forms ("MU Forms") in April 2012, along with other updates to the system. The updates to the forms will be based on public comments and input received from state regulators.

According to the NMLS, the forms are designed to fulfill two goals: 1) "improve the information provided by applicants and licensees available to state regulators;" and 2) "make the forms more universally applicable to non-depository financial services industries beyond the mortgage industry."

One particularly important update to the licensing forms is a more developed Business Activities Definitions - which is included in the Renewal Toolbox. This document allows applicants and licensees to identify a broad range of financial services which their company and/or branches engage in by state. 

A "working draft" of the definitions of each business activity, along with the new forms, is available for review on the NMLS webpage New Forms April 2012.
